Kate Moss Cancels New Years Party Plans

Kate MossTurns out that Kate Moss’ boyfriend, Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, has not been too fond of her hard-partying ways and is putting his foot down.

The 34-year-old supermodel was planning on spending New Year’s Eve at a celebrity bash in St. Tropez, in the South of France, but Hince insisted that she spend the New Year at home on Oxfordshire, UK, with him and her 6-year-old daughter, Lila Grace. The couple recently reunited after a break-up in September reportedly because he was worried about her partying.

A source said: “They’re back together but they are still arguing about how much Kate goes out. Jamie says Kate needs to calm her lifestyle down but she still likes to party. She loves him but she hates the fact he tries to rein her in all the time.”

We’re sorry your New Year’s is going to be more subdued this year, Kate.  We’ll be sure to keep an eye on where your ex, Pete Doherty, is partying…

Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

New Year ResolutionNo discussion of New Year’s Eve can be complete without talking about those dreaded New Years resolutions. People always ask you, “So, have any New Year’s resolution?” And, yes, we always do have something: Lose weight. Find a new job. Exercise more. Spend more time with family and friends.

It will probably come as no surprise that January is the single biggest month for new membership enrollment at health clubs, according to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association. And by February, most people are already skipping the gym and feeling bad for spending all that money and not going to the gym enough.

Whatever your resolution(s) may be, they’re often very hard to keep. So, what can you do to make your resolutions stick?

The Huffington Post just posteda new story, “How to stick to your New Year’s resolutions – 12 tips” which offers some advice.  They make some good recommendations, which include: being specific, writing resolutions down, reviewing them, holding yourself accountable, asking for help, not giving up, and several others.  It’s a good article, and while it may still be hard to keep your resolutions, half the battle is just to say that you tried.

New Year’s Eve Concert Guide

Rather than re-invent the wheel, we figured we’d just give you some links to a few other sites where you can find out more information about New Years Eve concerts that are going on.  As with everything else, we strongly recommend that you buy tickets early as many of these events will sell out!

Tourfilter
While not specifically providing a New Year’s Eve concert listing page, Tourfilter is a great site that scours the web and aggregates concerts listings for all the major cities. The great thing about them is they also crawl through smaller club’s web sites to make sure you don’t miss anything.  You can visit their site, select your city, and then check out who is playing on December 31 in order to make your New Year’s Eve plans.

Hidden Track: New Year’s Eve 2008 – 2009 Concert Guide
Hidden Track by Glide Magazine has put together a pretty good list of New Year’s Eve concerts broken out by state.  The list includes Hall & Oates in Connecticut, The Doobie Brothers in Florida, Wu-Tang Clan in Maryland, The Goo Goo Dols in New Jersey, and many more. Head on over to their site to check out the complete list.

Ticketmaster
The company everyone loves to hate because of their exhorbitant service charges is still the grand-daddy of ticketing companies because of the many exclusive ticket agreements they have.  Finding New Year’s Eve concerts and events on their site is relatively easy:

  1. On the left side of the site, go to the See Events By: section.
  2. Select a “Category” at the top.
  3. In the third drop-down, change from “Next 31 Days” to “select date range.”
  4. Enter from 12/31 to 12/31, enter your “City or Zip Code” and click Go.

Pretty simple, and we’re sure you’ll find something fun to do.  Enjoy!

New Year's NewsWill Mummers Strut Their Stuff On New Year’s? [MyFox Philadelphia]
Philadelphia’s budget crisis has raised questions about a New Year’s tradition. We’re just a few weeks away from the parade, and the struggle continues to ensure the Mummers strut their stuff. Just 20 days before the Mummers are scheduled to step onto Broad Street, the city — which has always financed the parade — is saying it can only cover up to $300,000. That’s compared to last year’s parade price tag of $1.1 million.

New Years Restaurant Ripoffs [SF Gate]
A good review of many San Francisco restaurant’s “special” New Year’s menus.  As the author says, “All the special menus for New Year’s Eve are coming in. Looking over them, it feels like many restaurants are trying to alleviate all their financial woes on Dec. 31. This is traditionally the busiest night of the year, and restaurants have jacked up the price, justifying the tab by offering a fixed-price menu and perhaps a sparkling wine toast.”
